Trust in the Lord

A couple weeks back our car looked like it was going to break down and in such a way it would have cost more than it's worth to fix. My husband and I began to rebuke it and commanding complete restoration over the engine. I sat in the car and laid my hands on the dash board and prayed. As Mr B tinkered under the hood I felt a surge of fight in me. Satan was not going to win ... not on my watch!

I was reminded of Job as I sat there - he lost everything, but still refused to curse God. Now I knew if I prayed there was a possibility the car could still break down. Not because I did not have enough faith, but because God's answer to prayer and blessings do not alway come the way we expect. Naturally, I am the sort of person who worries and stresses quite easily when unexpected things happen (like the car breaking down).

So I prayed to my Father and spoke out that no matter what happens with the car, whether it died or not, I would just trust in Him. Instead of praying for God to just fix the car and hope that it does not die, I started out by blessing the Lord. In my heart I sang to the Lord, "though I walk through the wilderness blessed by YOUR name!" Okay, so not having a car is not exactly the wilderness, but a life of unnecessary worry and stress is not the kind of life God intends for me either.

No longer had I started to enter a place of trust, the overwhelming feeling of wanting to fight left my mind. In it's place I was blessed with peace. The whole time God was there waiting to bless me, just like He wanted to bless Job. The only thing is, He wanted to bless me in an unfathomable way! Yes, He can fix my car and prevent it from dying, but He wanted to do so much more than that. All it takes is trusting in Him and a little bit of faith.

The Lord gives to strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace (Psalms 29:11)

He is waiting to bless you and just as His word says, He will bless you! Just do not limit His answer to prayer and His blessings to come or be a certain way because He wants to bless you in an amazing way ... in a way more amazing than you could want. I wanted my car to be fixed so I did not have to worry or stress ... I opened my heart and trusted Him ... and He gave me something for much more ... PEACE!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Thank You for Your word, Your promises and Your love, Father. Amen
